Hi. CC as requested. :)

First of all, I like the overall concept you wanted this to have. The patterns and colours go well together, and the overall picture has a very dynamic feel due to the horse being placed in a diagonal line across the paper.

A problem about your dynamic pose is, that the horse you referenced this from, clearly was in a lot more static pose. I'm sure there's great stock here at DA with running horses that really are leaning to the side like this. If you'd used that as a base, the horse's legs would fit in with the rest of the picture.
Also, you can get this even more dramatic, if you use the hair and mane as tools. Make them flow out behind the horse to show the speed. Hair is a great tool for getting more life and action into a picture. :D

A thing I really think you should work more on is the "room" within your picture. This picture is very flat. The horse on the picture has no mass. It's not a character in 3D that has been drawn on a 2D paper. It's all 2D.
When drawing the horse, you need to know where the body goes. Even within the defined lineart. For instance, your patterns doesn't follow the body's shape. The pattern is painted on something flat, rather than a horse with a round body.
Horses are super hard to get right. There's so many things to learn about horse anatomy, and there's a lot of muscles and body-shapes you need to understand on the equine body.

Anyway, I hope this was useful. Maybe consider to either get a scanner or a tablet, so it'll be easier to show off your skills as they are "when not done with a mouse". :P
